Arab Contractors signed a contract to construct a fishing port in Wilayat of Mahout in Oman

His Excellency Dr. Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi – Minister of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources of the Sultanate of Oman, and Eng. Ahmed El Assar – Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company signed a contract to construct a fishing port in Wilayat of Mahout in Al Wusta Governorate, as part of efforts to develop an integrated system of marine fishing ports and to develop and modernize existing ports on the coasts of the Sultanate of Oman.

The signing of the contract was attended by Eng. Heba Abu El Ella – Vice Chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, Eng. Hossam Fayed – Supervisor of Oman projects, and Eng. Mohamed Zohairy – Manager of Oman branch.

The project works include site preparation, temporary facilities and fences, topographic surveying and bathymetry, backfilling to create land gained within the water totalling about 1.2 million m3, dredging works totalling about 50,000 m3, construction of breakwaters including concrete barriers, in addition to the construction of fixed berths, the construction of 2 floating concrete pontoons, and the implementation of navigational aids and signals.

The project works also include the construction of roads and parking areas, interlocking pavers, the creation of a boat ramp, as well as the construction of fences.

External infrastructure works include the implementation of a water network, tanks, an electricity network, sewage network and tanks, street lighting, water pumping and fire-fighting stations, in addition to electrical transformers.

The project also includes a two-storey control building, a security building, 2 ice factories, fish market with 2 levels, praying hall, a service building, a repair building, and five shops for fishermen. The buildings encompass all civil and electromechanical works, air conditioning, fire suppression systems, lighting, and all associated infrastructure.
